12 Questions to Business Clarity

Every business needs a killer strategy to break out of the middle and get ahead of the pack. How do you get to that business strategy? Find out what you want and what you need to get there. That’s easier said than done.

A business owner is often his own greatest enemy. With their head down in important day-to-day tasks, many owners spend the bulk of their time working in their business instead of working on it. When you’re focused on meeting targets and paying bills, it’s not so easy to get the clarity you need to define your goals and a path to get to them.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m the first to tell a client to get their hands dirty, to encourage them to become familiar with the ins and outs of their business, and to warn them that succeeding may require losing some precious sleep and a fight or two with their partner. However, the first step is AWAY from the business so you can ask the important questions.

Step 1: Define Your Goals
You must ask yourself what you really want for your business, this year and in the years to come. It’s also important to think about your own goals. What would it take to achieve personal happiness and how does that fit in with your overall plan?

Step 2: Identify Action Steps
Next, you need to think about what you need to change to get to your goals. With those changes in mind, who and what can help you to get there? This is where you define actionable steps that you can take in the coming months to reach your goals.

Step 3: Gain a New Perspective
Here, we move back to the big picture. These are questions that will really push you to think about your business and your life in a new way. Challenge yourself to get a new outlook. It’s often out of these moments that clarity and business innovations come.
